Reflecting My Usual Condition
Ah. Hi. I just stumbled in after my latest round of perusing news headlines and articles on the internet. While I still can, before the FCC Internet police take away my ability to do so.
It's been a typical jumble of news, conflicting news, opinion, and fabrications shared in social media about the news, conflicting news, and opinion. As my perusal of news expands, my attention span gets shorter.
So, let's see, what have I been exposed to today? Via Google News pages:
Trump on North Korean missile launch: 'we will take care of it'. Hmm, sounds to me like the North Koreans already did.
Trump Wins Opening Round in Legal Battle over Consumer Watchdog Agency: Well, any headline that begins with 'Trump Wins...' is a article best avoided. Just means American citizens took another kick to the privates.
Washington Post Says It Foiled Apparent Sting By James O'Keefe's Activist Group: Ok, someone tried to plant fake news in a place that actually has some journalistic pride, and failed. Perhaps they should have tried taking their false information to Fox News or Breitbart? In the end, though, what is sad is that any journalistic agency should feel it has to report such a thing. Yes, sometimes erroneous information gets past good fact checking. Not often, though, and the decent ones always print retractions and corrections.
Mother Faces Felony Charge After using Recorder to Thwart School Bullies: Ok, looked at this one. Sounded---well, odd. Turns out, it is. It's Virginia, where they seem to have a statute about recording bad behavior. They don't want you to. Which raises some serious questions in my mind about just who the State feels a need to protect? I know, me and my liberal views, eh? Seems to me, the only privacy issue would have been if it was a private school. Public school denotes, well, public. Ahhh, the things that get rattling around in my weak brain.
Tillerson 'offended' by claims of State Department's hollowing out: My first thought--hollowing out? Did his statement have a echo as a result? Then, he is 'offended'? He knew the job was dangerous when he took it, Fred. (Obscure reference to the cartoon, Super Chicken. What? Childish? As the Fourth Doctor once said, Of course childish. What's the point of being grown up if you can't be childish once in a while? Ok, another obscure reference...).
'Ghost Ships' turn up along Japanese coast, Likely from North Korea: Man, they launch missiles AND ghost ships? President Toddler may as well concede defeat; these guys are just too good.
Tampa Police Questioning Person in connection with Shooting: Well, comforting, that. I'd hate to think they questioned a alligator. Or, a chair. A person would seem a logical target for questioning. Don't know. Maybe it's just me?
Arby's is Buying Buffalo Wild Wings for more than $2.4 Billion: Well, Arby's. Look at you, all sitting quietly near the back of the room all these years. All I have to say is, if you have that much money to throw around, you could bring back the original ArbyQ. Oh, and, send me a check every month for $1000. Even if I live another 30 years, it would still be less than $2.4 Billion, and, I could afford to eat Arby's again! See? Win Win. As for Buffalo Wild Wings; no thanks. To me, it's like pizza. Why?
MTV is bringing Jersey Shore back: Sorry? Jersey has a shore? The East Coast has a shore; the West Coast has a shore; the Gulf has a shore; Dinah had a shore. Someone apparently took Jerseys' shore, but, never fear; MTV is getting it back. They should apologize for doing so.

Feds Use James O’Keefe Video In Felony Trial Of Trump Inauguration Protesters : In and of itself, not really even worth reading. However, taken with other reports of this O'Keefe's disruptive and misleading activities, one might just have to wonder, eh?
Ah, just a sampling of what I put myself through every day. Listen, it sure beats holding my hands over gas flames, or hitting myself in the head repeatedly with a baseball bat. ( In case you are wondering, yes, I've done both. Not repeatedly. Once. Generally, such actions are in the nature of 'self-curing'.). I've done this for years. One reason I love the internet. It was so much more time consuming in the old print-media-only days.
Yes, I do sometimes ask myself, why? My only excuse? I rather enjoy it. Plus, it helps me weed the chaff from the healthy wheat. Which, if you've ever attempted to do this by hand, is a dirty, itchy job, but thankfully not too physically demanding. Well, and not very efficient, either. Machinery helps a lot.
As usual after a bout with all this, I travel over to my preferred social media and see how much, if anything, gets into my feed. Sometimes it does, usually reposted by folks who obviously don't get it even more than I don't get it. But, it's my idea of fun now. Sometimes it gets serious, too. I usually try to find something fun in even the most serious news or opinion. I am not always successful.
What I am successful at, is taking a nap after. Which, reading over this, I think I need. So, until next time, thank you for reading, and commenting if you feel like it. I do appreciate it!
