Reflections of Me: Whether We Like It Or Not, We Are With Stupid

You've seen the t shirts.  They've been around now for a couple of decades or longer.  Varied colors and designs, all proudly imprinted with the slogan " I'm With Stupid " and a arrow which points right, left, or is bidirectional.  Insulting, but, you know, in a cute way.

Inundated as we have been by our Nation's current lunatic regime ( sorry---I think I meant administration. Pretty sure I did.  No, wait.  I didn't. ) and how it strives daily to see which of the President's current batch of un-potty-trained piles of vomit can out-crazy the rest, I am starting to think that every American citizen should have to wear one of these at least twice a week.  Only, instead of arrows, imprint a outline of the District of Colunbia with a star marking the location of the Capitol.

From alienating almost every ally we have in the world, to further destabilizing a already unstable middle eastern situation, or separating children from adults who may be entering the country illegally ( and, basically, kidnapping the children, keeping them and jailing/deporting the parents ), or removing common sense regulations from operating manufacturing and Wall Street ( which were making life safer and more bearable for all ) while authorizing permanent tax exemptions for the same groups----well, the list gets longer and longer every day --- this group of flea-infested excuses for human beings seem each day to not be able to go any lower.  But, they somehow manage to do so.

I could detail instances, but, not sure there is enough room on the entire internet to fit them all in.  There are names to go with them, but, as Harry Truman once said of the Presidency, " The buck stops here. ".  Still, there are Betsy DeVos; Ajit Pai; Mick Mulvaney; Jeff Sessions; Kellyanne Conway; Sarah Huckabee Sanders; Mike Pompeo; Nikki Haley; John Kelly; and a cast of hundreds, as the cast list changes often, depending on what Trump considers 'loyal' today versus yesterday versus tomorrow.  One of the key factors seems to be: be as crazy as you want, just don't out-crazy Trump.

It is maddening to even try to keep up.  The hope that he might learn the job and actually be able to perform it properly has faded to a bitter memory.  Even among many of those who voted for him.  There are still many who continue to support him, who actually relish the madness, but, there have always been those who have been diagnosed as mad and never responded to any treatment.  ( One could theorize that, had they had the proper treatment, they may have--but the folks I mention previously would not have.  Even if the treatment had worked, they'd have denied it.  Stupidity is, sometimes, a choice. ).

There has been a lot of talk that, should the 2018 mid term elections result in a less-Trump-friendly Congress, impeachment proceedings might be brought.  I have to say here, I am against such talk.  For one thing, I am not sure impeachment proceedings are even warranted.  If lying is a impeachable offense, one would be hard pressed not to bring such proceedings to bear on almost any elected official.  The willful commission of a criminal or even treasonous act would be; however, there is enough money surrounding him that establishing any direct tie-in with any such act would be as difficult as convicting organized crime leaders of such acts.

No, if such a thing were to result after the mid-terms, the main goal should be for Congress to undo as much of the damage he ( and the current Congress ) has done as possible, and thwart any further such attempts until a qualified replacement can be officially elected.  Then, work on pushing the United States once more into a progressive and peace-promoting world leader, a nation with the best in education, health care, and the most humane treatment of all peoples regardless of their station in life.

Until such a time comes, we, sadly, like it or not, are with Stupid.  He is the President.  What he does, what he says, reflects on us all.

Who knows?  We've had almost 250 years to practice; maybe, in another 100, we might just reach that goal.  If we have learned properly the lessons we are getting now, we might not repeat them in the future.  Admittedly, little has occurred to indicate that as a possibility.  But.  Hey.  I can hope, can't I?
